Khorde /Aurora Arteaga & Strings
χορδή
KHORDĒ explores the intersections of contemporary jazz & improvisation, chamber music and folk traditions, using strings, vocals, and percussion.
Singer and composer Aurora Arteaga had a long-standing desire to create a project involving strings and voice. She started developing this concept in New York in the fall of 2016 with a classical string quartet and a jazz trio, plus voice.
Her self-arranged compositions, merging both languages, were recorded at the Institute of Audio Research in New York, as she was invited by the renowned engineer Rich Blakin (Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Paul Simon).
In 2021, she resumed the project in Spain, rebranded as KHORDĒ. With outstanding instrumentalists, they showcase their music at festivals, venues, and auditoriums all over Spain as Cultura Salamanca Foundation,Majadahonda Music Hall, Carlos de Amberes Foundation (Madrid), Urriés Music Festival (Aragón), VoWeek Festival (Alicante), National Museum of the Energy (León).
KHORDĒ offers a delicate and unexpected blend of harmonies and textures, combining music rooted in Iberian and Latin American traditions with modern harmonies and original compositions.
